Prior to problem stated above, I have tried upgrading Transmission to
2.0 via PPA.
transmission:
Installed: 2.00-0ubuntu1~ppa1

Installation was successful but the same problem above is regenerated.
Means that, Transmission 2.00 (10790) also carries this same problem.
Torrents are still unable to be downloaded and port detection is always
reported as "closed".
Currently I am still using Deluge as alternative torrent client.
