@David, After re-installation I can confirm that I see what #58 is seeing in their Sound Preferences after getting correct modinfo output with your installation.
So my setup or result from setup is now the same as theirs ie is what is expected or what it should be. Everything is not working for me as for them thou. My experience is different: When I use Skype I can hear my own voice on my own speakers when I speak into the mic. Hence my conclusion that I can hear the mic is on it is just not working as expected. I don't know how else to put it.
