@zyga, given the very high heat of this issue and the number of users who purged snap because of it, would you consider a short term patch to allow people to rename/move their snap directory? I can certainly understand wanting to improve the overall storage layout and to craft a really elegant long term solution. But over 2 years have passed, and it doesn't sound like such a solution will be ready for a while longer. I'm certain it would make a lot of people very happy if the developers provided a temporary workaround. Even if it were a hack and even if it caused potential compatibility issues which users would have to resolve themselves. Just my two cents - it makes me sad to see a promising project lose so much "market share" due to something as simple as this.
