The log contains this just before the installer crashes: Jul 24 10:50:06 ubuntu kernel: [ 167.484764] SQUASHFS error: zlib_inflate returned unexpected result 0xfffffffd, srclength 131072, avail_in 996, avail_out 131072 Jul 24 10:50:06 ubuntu kernel: [ 167.484777] SQUASHFS error: sb_bread failed reading block 0x1bf0c Jul 24 10:50:06 ubuntu kernel: [ 167.484780] SQUASHFS error: Unable to read fragment cache block [6fa741a] Jul 24 10:50:06 ubuntu kernel: [ 167.484785] SQUASHFS error: Unable to read page, block 6fa741a, size 1bc40
The installer crash indicates that it had problems reading some of itself from the CD. This particular error is often due to a faulty CD/DVD disk or drive. It may help to clean the CD/DVD, to burn the CD/DVD at a lower speed, or to clean the CD/DVD drive lens (cleaning kits are often available from electronics suppliers). Since hardware problems are predominantly the cause of this kind of problem, I'm going to close this bug for now. However, if you are unable to resolve it by hardware means, there's an outside chance that it may be a bug in our driver for your CD drive. If you suspect that, please reopen this bug and reassign it to the 'linux' package. ** Changed in: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Invalid -- Cannot install Hardy, ubiquity crashes https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/250013 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
