on the refence they say about 2.6.8 and that problem disappear on 
2.6.10. I can modify the main script to only use cifs but this means 
that we will have problems with capital letters on the scripts.

4.7 is out, this changed will be in the 4.8 release. I can modify it but 
  you need to compile the linuxboot to test if that fix your issue.

I think that we better get rid of smbmount and see where is failing.
