A few months ago people were asking about how to disable the volume since Windows keeps rebooting every minute or two. SO I downloaded the source code that Patrick pointed to and made it into a program that gets called from the command line. To use it:
volume parameter
parameter = off or 0 - turns the volume to 0, but doesn't actually mute it
on or 100 - turns the volume to 100%
25 - turns volume to 1/4
50 - turns volume to 1/2
75 - turns volume to 3/4

eg. volume off - turns the sound off.

I've tested this on my computers and it seems to work, but if someone else can test it, it would be nice.
