Yup that did it...  I created a snapshot.jar from a fresh cvs checkout.
 This fixed all my parse issues with generics.  It still doesn't handle
enum's properly, there are issues in JIRA for this.

If anyone wants the updated qdox jar let me know and I can put it for
download from my webserver.

FWIW you need Maven 1 (not 1.1 or 2) to build the fresh qdox CVS checkout.
