Hi Jacques,

You have at least 2 alternative options:

How do I change the default font?
You can set the default font and its size in Tools > Options >
OpenOffice.org Writer > Basic Fonts (Western).
ALTERNATIVE METHOD: Choose Format > Styles and Formatting, right
click on Default and choose Modify > Font.

The above is a copy and paste from the FAQs at:
https://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Documentation/FAQ/Writer/FormattingText/How_do_I_change_the_default_font%3F

Note: The alternative method is only valid for the current document. A
better method is to create your own "Default Template"

The same or similar answer can also be found in the in-built help, the
OpenOffice forums and with a simple web search many other places.

Regards
Dave
