I guess I should have mentioned that that was with the last 4.5 set of packages released. I am on vacation, so I don't have the exact details, but it was the latest cumulative set released before the newest 4.6 beta.

It seems to be looking for the wrong registry entries in /reg/... I did have to fudge with the version checks to get it to install. ^*^ Gene ^*^ -----Original Message----- From: uwin-users-boun...@research.att.com [mailto:uwin-users-boun...@research.att.com] On Behalf Of Kalpesh Patel Sent: Tuesday, July 05, 2011 8:57 AM To: uwin-users@research.att.com Subject: RE: [uwin-users] XP SP3 32 bit Install failures with latest beta Just to make things easy, I removed the previous beta and installed the latest ones (namely uwin-XXXX.2011-06-30.win32.i386.exe) after downloading it. Here are some of the observations: -- Good news: 1) I see the UWIN applet in the Control Panel from where I can control the rsh, ftp, etc., services. -- Bad News: 1) Uninstall from the Control Panel => Add or Remove Program does noting. However it does remove the entry for itself from it menu listing which wasn't happening. Uninstall still needs to be performed from the Start => All Program => UWIN X.Xx shortcut. 2) The failure to install other packages remains just that in that they refuse to install. Further to that I do not see any file named /var/log/install-[dev|xbase|xdev|xfonts] created after attempting to install by double clicking the respective .exe file to install. -----Original Message----- From: Glenn Fowler [mailto:g...@research.att.com] Sent: Monday, June 27, 2011 1:42 PM To: kalpesh.pa...@usa.net; uwin-users@research.att.com Subject: Re: [uwin-users] XP SP3 32 bit Install failures thanks for the report On Sat, 25 Jun 2011 09:58:20 -0400 Kalpesh Patel wrote: > - No applet appeared in control panel to configure the UWIN services such as > rlogin, ftp, rsh, etc. we have seen some issues with the uwin control panel applet being recognized by the control panel you can reach it via (main menu) => All Programs => UWIN n.m[x] => Config > - Uninstall from the ->'control panel'->'add or remove program' performs no > function.
