Today, after checking with Competition Accessories, HLSM, and two local
dealers, I ordered the steering stem bearings for my '85. I'm still a little
worried, though. Everyone I talked to told me that they were showing a
one-piece, sealed bearing for a replacement, both top and bottom. This
leaves me wondering: how do I replace the bottom bearing? Do I press it onto
the stem and then try to insert it into the steering head, or do I press it
into the steering head and then try to get the stem in? Has anyone else run
into this problem? How do I put this thing back together?

As a side note, this is the second time I've dealt with HLSM and they
continue to impress me. They are very helpful, courteous, and patient. Their
prices have consistently been the best I could find on the things I've
needed. Free shipping on orders of $100.00 or more, too.

Thanks,
Jim McCormick
