Thanks. I plan to replace my water heater soon. When I asked before a couple of people suggested a 6 gallon Atwood. But I recall in a discussion about retrofitting the old Bowen cover that the vent on the Suburban lined up on the correct side while the Atwood required reversing the hood. Did I understand this correctly? In my case the hood is on the right side as you look at the water heater from the outside. I see that the suburban is considerably cheaper than the Atwood. Does this reflect a big difference in quality/reliability? Finally, what do I have to do to fit the new water heater to the old Bowen flange and cover? It looks like I will have to cut the flange off the Bowen but then what? I could really use a very detailed description before I dive in. Thanks again. Could your > readers please help me ascertain what it is worth. We live in southern Utah. > Thank you, Carole > Hi Carole, Bottom line is "supply and demand." If southern Utah residents have a big interest in Airstreams, then spruce your Airstream the nines, replace the carpet, polish the exterior, set the table with candles and advertise heavily in May 2003. If you want a plain old ordinary average price for it, you can go to www.nada.com and check out the oldest Airstream in the best shape (probably the1980s by now). That'll give you a ball park figure of what's likely too high a price to ask. If you need the money for New Years Eve and want to sell it fast, tell us now and someone will bang on your door tomorrow morning with money in hand. <grin> By now you may have heard about the VAC classified ads and other websites where Airstreams are offered for sale. Each of these are good sources to get a feel for "what the traffic will bear." If you haven't rummaged around in Tom Patterson's archives (located at bottom of the VAC List sign-up page), it might be an eye opener for you. A few years back, I recall seeing a general outline of how to estimate an Airstream's value. I believe it's in Tom's archives. Cheers, Terry PS - Tomorrow, we roll out of Fort Myers Beach RV Resort in southwest Florida and into another RV Resort in southeast Florida. The name is Port St. Lucie RV Resort. We'll stay there a week ($10 a night - Coast ot Coast Good Neighbor) before going into the COE campground at St. Lucie Locks for two weeks ($8 a night - Golden Age Passport). By mid December, our average nightly cost will be $7.45. Why do I mention this? The cost of being a traveling Snowbird can be kept to a moderate expense with a little homework. I have been bumping up against the upper limit of files allowed by my server provider for some time now, and have been forced to place some of the older messages in PDF format in order to reduce the total files on the site. The server provider has now generously upped my file limit, so that I will be able to continue to display all messages in text format. 2. The search engine I have been using on my site is WebGlimpse. It has worked well in the past, but does seem to be having trouble retrieving messages where there are a great many occurrences of the search topic. I am now offering Google on the home page as an additional tool to search my site, as well as the internet as a whole. It is similar to the Google engine with which you are all familiar, except that you can choose whether to do a regular internet search, or limit the search to my website. - -Tom - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Tuna" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Tuesday, November 26, 2002 11:32 AM Subject: Re: [VACList] water heater replacement > Dick - it might be worthwhile to seach the archives at www.tompatterson.com > for this.
