Dear Michael,
I have read the information on this and linked pages and verified that
every time the host sends a hint there is a matching entry in the
machine log file on the host. The option "automatically resize" is
selectable and selected. The correct guest additions are installed.
There are no errors in the log file and no indication that the host
window manager refuses requests from the guest. But the host does not
appear to understand the screen resolution and the guest is unable to
adapt to it. I can set the resolution manually to 1920x1440, but the VM
at that stage is larger than the Desktop, which means that it is
mis-recognising the definition of the screen itself (which is actually
2560x1440). And the mouse pointer continues to be wildly out of alignment.
Thanks,
Jonathan

Hello Both,
Please take a look at our wiki page about debugging guest resizing
issues[1]. I'm afraid that it is a bit rudimentary just now, and more
for Linux guests than Windows ones.

It’s annoying.
I sait for a vmware player to se if it’s abble to give me the good
resolution.
I will tell you the result.
Will Oracle adjust virtualbox capabilities ?

Dear Sergey,
I have upgraded to 5.2, and I can confirm that the problem remains,
in both Win7 and Win10 VMs. In Win7, the desktop maximises correctly
to fill the monitor, and the mouse pointer is correctly aligned, but
the resolution is low (grainy appearance). In Win10, the desktop
does not fill the monitor (wide black margin remains), it does not
have the correct resolution and the mouse pointer is not aligned,
making it impossible to do anything but start and stop the VM.
Thanks,
Jonathan

Dear Sergey,
this doesn't work either - whatever settings are used in the File
- Preferences - Display menu, there is no change. In the meantime
I have also tried installing the new release (5.1.30) with
appropriate guest additions and extension pack. No change there
either.
Thanks,
J
