Could you please check one small thing for me?
There is HiDPI scaling support flag in the underlaying Qt library.
It can be forced by setting environment variable QT_AUTO_SCREEN_SCALE_FACTOR to
1 (right before starting VM).
Please try it and let me know if that affects the issue somehow.

Dear Ron,
I have a Linux host, the guests are Windows. But there is clearly
something going wrong which usually gets handled automatically,
presumably due to the combination of new hardware or the new version
17.04 of the host OS KUbuntu.
