Hello early guitarists,

I just received a query: “Do you know the earliest publications for lute and/or guitar in which harmonics were used?”

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

According to Oleg Timofeyev:

[Semion Aksionov] "apparently invented the special effect in guitar
playing known today as artificial harmonics" which is explained in a
guitar method in 1819.

But natural harmonics must have predated this.
