Never mind. I read the bug report. Not sure why it's requiring GLX. As a
temporary workaround, you can enable Mesa in TightVNC using the instructions
here:

http://www.virtualgl.org/Documentation/Mesa

I will look into why Evolution isn't working in VGL, mainly because doing so
may reveal an underlying issue that might affect other apps. Looks like I need
to hash out some vglserver_config issues with Debian as well (<sigh> would be
nice if someone would submit a patch for that. I am just one guy, and it's
really difficult to keep up with every distro out there.)

I would also recommend switching to TurboVNC. TightVNC for Unix is no longer
maintained, and I've taken great pains to design a protocol that is 100%
compatible with TightVNC and can (when configured properly) compress with equal
"tightness", but the TurboVNC variant is generally many times faster across the
board and icompresses better than TightVNC for 3D and video apps. Further,
TurboVNC has numerous additional features and bug fixes relative to TightVNC,
and it is actively maintained. Our project is the only VNC implementation that
can claim 100% coverage of the features and compression capabilities that
existed in TightVNC 1.3.x for Unix.
