Personally, if you're likely to grow to need transactions etc, I'd use
PostgreSQL from the outset, but that's just me :)

And when pgSQL supports clustering/Multi-Master Replication out of the box using native code with very minimal configuration, I'll take you up on that offer to migrate... :oP

Actually, fair point about the replication; it's a shame that Postgres doesn't do it out of the box.

I assume you've looked at http://pgfoundry.org/projects/pgcluster/ though?

(And http://main.slony.info/ if you were interested in master-slave, rather than multi-master).
