The Makefiles in the FOX gate define the standard set of CFLAGS, LDFLAGS,
etc.
Unless there's a reason to force something else, Sun Studio 12 is
our default compiler right now (it's what the Nevada packages that
go into SXCE & OpenSolaris 2008.11 are being built with).
