it's not ready for purchase yet; should be 'soon'. supposedly will be around $500. no special hardware is needed, other than the breakout box and the two pieces of special vinyl that will come with the system... and a pc running at least 500mhz P3 with a USB connection. the breakout connects to the pc via USB and to the mixer via the Line inputs - so you have to have a mixer with Line ins on most of the ins, which most mixers do. beyond that it's all the same stuff - two turntables, carts/needles, mixer, etc.

you can see all the details, watch some QT movies of john explaining the system, and request to be notified when the system is ready at www.finalscratch.com

Hey, all...
I was wondering if anyone outhere has seen, played with, or has any
other info about the Finalscratch Program that John & Richie are
currently using. I'm curious as to what special hardware is needed, and
how the switching of the turntables from audio to PC input works.. The
only info I can get about it is that it is a system that allows you to
cue & manipulate mp3 files by way of a turntable playing a special
record (I'm assuming it must have some sort of pulse timing signal on
it?). I wonder when the average schmuck off the street (read: me) could
go purchase this system..
Peace...
