yeah but...the early detroit dance/electro scene was quite a few years
before techno really began (couldnt have done it without chicago house...),
and the fashion element was quite a bit different back then anyways wasnt
it? i mean the preps had their prescribed fashion, and the jits did as
well...the approach to fashion seems quite a bit different. where is dan
sicko anyways? the circumstances and city seem totally different to me. the
fact that they were mostly teens in detroit does make a big difference, i
think. and detroit is NO nyc. the context is totally different. it's 20
years later. a lot of the "electroclash" music is kitsch and regurgitory
(issat a word?). the audience is completely different, nyc people are not
like detroit people....

yeah electroclash is basically a product of scenester nyc media, isn't it?
that does seem the culprit in all of this...without media...no hype.
