They can even do better than that.

I've owned one pair of headphones my entire adult life.  Sennheiser HD 424's.
(The "Open Aire" design)

I bought them 26 years ago.  They were the first thing I bought when I moved
to California to go to college  :-)

You can still get the ear pads and the transducer bit (erm ... whatever the
sound thingie/speaker bit is called) from Sennheiser today.  Amazing.
