Make sure if you are using lighter fluid to clean your records it is Zippo
brand, because most other brands put wax in their fluid. My guess is that
wax and grooves don't mix all that well. Your records might start sounding
muddy, either that or you could put your stylus on the birthday cake as one
of them trick candles. I have never used lighter fluid to clean my records,
but i may try it now.

Lighter fluid (like the stuff you fill Zippo lighters with) or record
cleaner from most record shops.... both work very well with no bad side
effects and of course a soft cloth.

Any weight on a record will cause wear and yes, the more weight the more
wear. So it's a pay off..... If you're mixing or scratching and you can't
afford it to jump, then use enough weight, if you are just spinning ya
tunes, then just use minimal weight! IMO Unless you are spinning the same
records for hours and weeks on end, you will not really notice a lot of
wear, just looking after your records is more important... like putting them
back in their sleeves and not leaving them out to get scratch up... That's
how records get Fu**ed!!

Hope this helps,

Rob.
