On the Ath? Or in general ...
My quick 2 cents (that's 1/2 of a Euro cent, by the time you read this):
1999 - Luxor: oops, that wasn't the DEMF
2000 - Uh, wait, I was in Tokyo being an idiot
2001 - Ren Center Marriott:
Nice hotel, pricey ($189 a night at the time), getting back up to your
room at the end of the night was a nightmare. Other than that, nice
place to stay.
2002 - Athenaeum:
Really nice hotel, way pricey, had to walk a few more blocks, no biggie.
Only recommended if you can split a room there 3 ways (double room plus
sofa bed). Then it becomes somewhat affordable. Scare: Hotel staff
found
a small amount of Mary Jew Wanna (not mine), threatened to throw us out.
Cooler heads prevailed, but you might wanna consider a more laid-back
hotel :-)
2003 - Pontchartrain:
OK hotel, not too pricey, good location, wayyyyy too much chaos from the
stupid patio parties, not to mention noise, don't think I'll go back.
My recommendation: do the Ath thing if you've got 2 good roommates.
Otherwise, I'd look elsewhere if you're solo, maybe to one of the
hotels not mentioned above (Courtyard, Holiday Inn, etc.)
