Don't know about you, but I always much prefer it when the performer (DJ or live) seems into what they're doing, and having fun. Static performers always give me the impression that they're not that bothered by what they're creating/playing, which is a total turn off for me...
And the big thing I hate about laptops is that it creates a physical barrier between the artist and the crowd, detaching the performance even more. I've even seen people do laptop sets sitting down, so they can't see the crowd at all...
