mislav -- the next convextion release (dLvext2) is a 12" as E.R.P. (his
electro/techno aka, last seen on sean d's original matrix label) and should be
out late september/early october. we're also hoping to release the convextion
album before the end of the year. if you go to the (really out of date) dL
website, there are some previews if you go to the audio page and click the
little logo that says "upcoming", and also an e.r.p. loop playing on the
contact page. site should be updated soon, sorry...

dave -- that's true about the thread on LD, tristan was nice enough to point it
out to us. we don't mind when our stuff ends up on p2p after it's been
released, but in this case, someone actually hacked our server (our own fault
for leaving an easy backdoor) and stole the files and put them on p2p. it was 3
cd's worth of music, most of which will not even be on the album/released --
but gerard did not want it made public in any case. no biggie tho. i doubt many
people even got ahold of it.

re mp3 consumption, i completely agree with ani. i download mp3's and i make
buying decisions based on what i download. i still end up blowing all my spare
change on records whenever i can. it's also usually hard to find mp3's of new
records until months after they are released (if at all), unless it is
something more popular. so unless you're really patient, it's still easier to
just buy the record if it's something you really want. album rips are easier to
find, but many labels have done a smart thing and release their own albums onto
p2p, in either low quality, or special edits, or with annoying voice-over promo
in every song. they beat mp3 groupz to the punch and before you know it the
p2p-tailored versions propagate like mad and are all you can find -- this was
the case with kerrier district, amp fiddler, and lots of hiphop i check out in
mp3. good strategy i think, and we might do it with the connection machine and
convextion albums in a bit. also btw there have been several reports out this
year, i think one australian, one from harvard, and one from unc, that cast
serious doubt on the assumption that mp3's hurt cd sales. i'm not really sure
how that translates to dj music (vinyl), but somehow i don't think ableton etc
has made vinyl any more obselete...buyers are still out there, it's just a
tougher competition for their wallets/pocketbooks

blah blah!

I dont think Mislav was asking to download it Martin
(I could be worng). He is correct in that it was
floating about on P2P a while ago (Check the LD
archives ;-)) then either JT or Minto came onto the
thread and asked if the sharing could be stopped and
it was. (No I dont have it before anyone asks)

I think it was just a simple request about release
date info which is not an unusual post at all.

Cheers
