the deep space radio mixes from the mid 90s that were up at emotion
electirc before they was so rudely removed were in the pitched-up style.
there were a few english djs who played pitched-up style - like dave angel,
luke slater and mark broom.
as for me - i pitch nearly everything down - might have something to do
with the fact that everytime i touch a turntable i have a j. in the other
hand.
octave one, gary martin stuff, basic channel, rhythm and sound, relief
records jacking tracks all sound great at -8. and the best of all - jaguar
- it sounds so much better at -8.
plus a lot of disco sounds so much better at -8. brings down the highs,
beefs the BASS and gives room for it all to breathe.
and you can can turn any 80s hi-nrg tune into an italo classic just by
pitcing it down.

my partner is so used to hearing tracks pitched down that when she hears
things played at normal speed by other djs she thinks they have some crap
hardhouse or trance remix.

yeah scratch what i said about getting old. if you're gonna play
uptempo the below is a good example of how it should be done. not all
techno dj's have that kind of approach though which is why a lot of
people say they don't like techno.

it's interesting but a lot of early detroit techno is quite slow. at
what point did detroit techno become fast? and i wonder what prompted
it.
