On the british tip, any MC that tries to sound American is as weak as almost all Americans who try to make Drum and Bass. People I have respect for -- like the Streets, and Goldie Lookin Chains -- aren't even trying to make real hip hop: they're doing something uniquely British. They don't hit me in the heart like the best American hip hop, but they sound like themselves, not like they spent their youths in a pub listening to Biggie on their walkman, fantasizing about walking the mean streets of NYC.
