I did the "loop through the records to update" after Apply to selection did nothing. And I tried Advanced Compact a few times. Looking back at this, my hunch is that the culprit was the disk file issues (that I found and repaired this AM using CHKDSK) played a role in 4D not moving the files into the expected location.
