I can't affirm this for my Suse 64-bit RT kernel 2.6.25.11-0.1-rt and I
read about that RT kernels >= 2.6.26 should be totally broken for MIDI
use, see below. I'll learn how to patch and compile a 64 Studio kernel.
Amusingly I've got toothaches and Con Kolivas is a dentist. I just found
a German Ubuntu Link with hints how to build an Debian RT kernel, but
they are using Ingo Molnar's patch,
http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/projects/rt/.

A German link for Ubuntu:
http://www.ubuntufreunde.de/forum/thread.php?threadid=70
An English link for Suse: http://www.rncbc.org/drupal/node/38

    "[...]
my best choice and recommendation is still doing it with the system
timer *and* a kernel with CONFIG_HZ=1000.

on the other news, it seems that realtime-preempt kernels >= 2.6.26
are completely broken for midi use. like, unbounded jitter is the
    feature eheh :))

    cheers

*Hi Arthur* :)

here are the versions of some of the audio apps I'm using with 64 Studio
2.1 default Etch install:

jackd version 0.103.0 tmpdir /dev/shm protocol 16

qjackctl Qt: 3.3.7 qjackctl: 0.2.22

rosegarden Qt: 3.3.7 KDE: 3.5.5 Rosegarden: 1.7.1

muse: Linux Music Editor; Version 0.8.1 *** glibc detected *** double
free or corruption (!prev): 0x00000000007c6150 ***

qsampler Qt: 4.3.3 libgig: 3.2.1 liblscp: 0.5.5 Qsampler: 0.2.1

qsynth Qt: 3.3.7 qsynth: 0.2.5

jamin jamin 0.95.0

jack-rack JACK Rack version 1.4.5 Compiled with: JACK 0.103.0 libxml2 2.6.27

For MusE there seems to be an inconsistency by default for the default
install ;).

Cheers,
Ralf

PS: I'm missing qtractor for 64 Studio.
