Well I didn't know how to set this, and yet I have been using root accounts in a highly specialise way for years. to the O/P in a terminal window enter: sudo passwd Provide your normal user password, then enter the new one for root twice. If you are going to do this I would also suggest you remove admin rights from your normal user. P.S. arguments rage across the whole Internet about the rights and wrongs of this.
