I am planning on installing 64Studio 3.0beta3 on a Dell Latitude (AMD64x2 w
2GB memory) that I plan on using for recording. I am no stranger to
recording on linux, and have been using openSUSE/Jacklab for some time.
However, I am not satisfied with openSUSE's performance on this particular
machine, and found Ubuntu Studio Hardy (or Intrepid, but Intrepid's
kernel-rt is crippled) a better fit. I'd always wanted to try 64 Studio, and
since the beta3 is based on Hardy, I am fairly confident that it will handle
my hardware (I'm waiting for a new hard drive to arrive). However, I am a
bit confused as to how the devs are planning to change the base from Ubuntu
Hardy to Debian Lenny for the final release?

Lenny runs a 2.6.26 kernel, while Hardy is 2.6.24. But the kernel-multimedia
in 64Studio's repo is at 2.6.29? So what's the final 64Studio going to use?
Is the 2.6.29 kernel going to be the release kernel?

Also, if I install beta3, will I by able to update the installation to 3.0
when it's released?

Thanks in advance for any hints!

Zak
