Stay tuned for my upcoming article in the Linux Journal, it details my trials & tribulations with Ubuntu Jaunty and Ubuntu Studio. The number of hoops I jumped through is impressive, and I suspect that less experienced users would turn away in frustration. I now have a running Ubuntu Studio (i386) on my notebook. Kernel is 2.6.28-3-rt, it seems stable enough but I haven't stressed it at all. I set up a build environment, compiled and installed the latest MusE 1.0 rc2, and it seems to work fine with JACK and my UA25 at 8 msec latency and 0 xruns. However, I say again that it was no picnic getting things this far and I will not be surprised if users report problems similar to the ones I encountered. Btw, in my article I suggest that the devs for Ubuntu Studio should carefully consider how 64 Studio, JAD, and Planet CCRMA work so well. I also have a few recommendations for all multimedia distro maintainers. Best, dp _______________________________________________ 64studio-users mailing list [email protected] http://lists.64studio.com/mailman/listinfo/64studio-users
