Hi guys,

I've got a problem: Sound works fine with JACK. But I thought, when JACK
is not running, ALSA sound output should work, too (vor video player,
flash, skype, ...) This was working very well in Ubuntu Studio 9.04 when
i removed the Pulse-Audio things.

Now I switched to 64studio which adds a lot of power to my workstation
and I like it very very much. Great thing!

Does anybody know, if it's possible to make ALSA sound output working
when JACK is not running? I walked through a lot of Forums and Howtos,
but none of them really worked.

When I start Totem Video Player, the volume button is not available, but
the player starts running. Of course, I don't hear anything.
When I go to Preferences -> Sound -> Test (Alsa output is selected) it
tells me: Device is being used by another application. Thats right. So I
close the video player and restart.
Now, sound test tells me something about a data flow error.

My soundcard is a MAudio Delta 1010LT which works fine with jack and
works even fine with Jack OR Alsa in ubuntu-studio. Unfortunately the
Kernel in Ubuntu studio was not very stable and I like the 64studio
thing much more...

Is there anybody with some ideas?

Regards,
Mathias Krause
