"sudo lsof |grep snd" might help you to discover what is locking your sound device. >> Now, sound test tells me something about a data flow error. >> >> My soundcard is a MAudio Delta 1010LT which works fine with jack and >> works even fine with Jack OR Alsa in ubuntu-studio. Weird, because jack runs on top of ALSA, meaning that if ALSA is broken, jack will not work (this is a generalization, unless you specifically do something different). Is the Delta 1010 one of two sound devices in your computer? Perhaps you just need to set the default sound device? Can you right click on the volume icon on the status bar, and then select Preferences? What sound device is selected? The system defaults can usually be found in System -> Preferences -> Sound >> >> Is there anybody with some ideas? >> >> Regards, >> Mathias Krause > > Hi Mathias :) > > I guess the problem is that jackd is running, but you guess jackd isn't > running. > > Please try to run > > sudo killall jackd > Of course it is better to verify that jack is still actually running: ps axf |grep jackd > and after that to use the applications you like to use. > It would be a good idea to test first. I like to use mplayer from the command line, as we can specify the output easily: eg. mplayer -ao alsa some-random.wav "mplayer -ao help" for more options. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.9 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org/ iEYEARECAAYFAkpws4wACgkQwRXgH3rKGfMbVQCgjAskIZIDyDfcIVrI7Yc3Z9Mq jMgAmwWimjZDR53ByPpHTKo6N6jWheHd =e1Z9 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- _______________________________________________ 64studio-users mailing list [email protected] http://lists.64studio.com/mailman/listinfo/64studio-users
