For future reference when testing alsa with mplayer, you may need to
specify the sound card.

mplayer -ao alsa:device=hw=0.0 some.random.wav

You need to know what alsa ID to use, use the same ones that work in
qjackctl.  The second number is the output port, which may vary
depending on the device, especially on devices with a number of outputs,
like my 9652.
