now, the dmesg error message is no longer present. ICE1712 is now my 
first card.

Starting jack says:
Device busy

Totem does nothing

System-preferences-sound test says device is busy

sudo lsof | grep snd
mixer_app 5416      matze   19u      CHR              
116,0                6287 /dev/snd/controlC0
qjackctl  6172      matze   13u      CHR              
116,1                5980 /dev/snd/seq

but wenn i stop qjackctl and mixxer_app ... everything stays the same ...
sudo lsof | grep snd is empty now

totem does nothing ...
