Hi :)

I run 'ati-driver-installer-9-3-x86.x86_64.run', installed the packages,
run 'aticonfig --initial'.

'xorg.conf' supposedly was renamed to 'xorg.conf.original-0' and there
was a new 'xorg.conf'.

I couldn't boot into 64 Studio 3.0-beta3, after startup the computer
always was reset or maybe a short shutdown was done, there was no GDM.

I renamed the broken 'xorg.conf' to 'xorg.conf.broken' and restored the
original 'xorg.conf' by renaming 'xorg.conf.original-0' to 'xorg.conf'.

Now I can't set the resolution to 1024x768 as it was before. There's
only 640x480 and 800x600 available.

I compared the restored 'xorg.conf' with the 'xorg.conf' from a backup
of the 64 Studio that was fine. 64 Studio had troubles to do the first
start after it was 'repaired' and there's a file 'xorg.conf.1' with the
same time information as the 'xorg.conf'.
The backup file differs to the restored file. The backup file is equal
with the 'xorg.conf.1' file, but seemingly 64 Studio won't use this file
any more.

Which files do I have to restore from my backup to repair 64 Studio,
resp. were are the relevant settings?

Ubuntu only has a mystic 'xorg.conf' different to the configurations by
other Linux distros.

I'm short of time, I'll try to repair my 64 Studio 3.0-beta3 during the
night, any help is welcome.

Has anybody ever successfully used
'ati-driver-installer-9-3-x86.x86_64.run' (exactly this version) with 64
Studio and if so, by having what graphics?

Cheers,
Ralf
