I see a lot of reboots from dying power supplies feeding stacks of  
harddisks, faulty RAM and sometimes weak BIOS batteries.

I would buy a new battery (possibly a cheap CR2032?), check the RAM  
using memtest from any linux live cd and try reducing power  
consumption by disconnecting CDROM and harddisks, if possible.
