Hi Daniel :)

I'll take a look at 2ManDVD too, didn't know about it. Seems to be on
French only too :S.
Some weeks ago I tested ... I guess it was ... TovidGUI, but I was to
lazy to add all dependencies that were not added when installing the
package from the 3.0-beta/Hardy repositories and so it failed. IIRC I
used Avidemux (Qt) to convert a video to CD format without a menu and
burned it by K3b.
DVD authoring is something I don't need often. If I need DVD or CD video
format I use the first available application and often I go without a menu.

This is very interesting, as sync is important for me.

A good decision. I have given up to recommend Linux, but if people ask
me to help them, I always recommend GIMP and other FLOSS for their
Windows and in addition I tell them, when using Linux, that they only
need to open YaST, Synaptic etc. to search and install software.

Phew, Animata has a lack of good instructions. There's a howto video
posted in their mailing list archive and there's a rudimentary Wiki that
comes also with some videos: http://usinganimata.wikia.com/wiki/Animata_Wiki

It's not bad to learn by doing without a howto, but because there's no
howto, I know scarcely if doing it is worth the effort, because I don't
know what Animata is able to do and what is needed to realize all the
nice things it obviously is able to do.

Actually I would run

$ dchroot -d /usr/src/animata-read-only/build/animata

right now and learn a little bit about Animata.

Unfortunately Fortuna balks this plan.

For Animata that chroot thing seems to be fine and it has the advantage
that everybody easily can compile actual svn versions without the need
to use obscure patches, but my chroot seems to be a mess and not a
solution for all 32bit applications on 64bit architecture.

Cheers,
Ralf
