Hi there!

I guess, as a musician and sound engineer it is really important to have
a beatcounter (or bpm-counter). None that is part of another heavy
weight application. None that tries to calculate the beats per minute of
a song using strange algorythms, because: I never saw a piece of
software that automatically determins the bpm of a music based on a more
complex rhythm like f.e. Drum'n'Bass.

We need one where we can tap our mousebutton on to get really fast a
real close guess of the bpm a song has. Unfortunately, neither Ubuntu
nor Debian nor 64Studio does offer sth like that.

I looked for a beatcounter for linux in the internet and found 3
different projects:

http://code.google.com/p/bpm-counter/
#for the console-people, written in python

http://javascript.internet.com/math-related/beat-counter.html
#for the online-people, written in java-script

http://das.nasophon.de/bpmcounter/
#for the GUI-people, written in python

If you know another GPLed Beatcounter in the wide areas of our known
universe, please reply! All the others could help testing to find out,
which one is the best to integrate in 64Studio! After this we can build
a debian-package and add it in the 64Studio-repositories (if Daniel is
so kind :) ). Or we can persuade some developers of a delay plug-in to
integrate the code into their software and offer a tap-button!

Greetings
Mitsch
