Hi Mitsch, i also searched for a lightweight BPM counter some weeks ago. Unfortunately I didn't really find a good one. At the moment i take a freeware with WINE to do that ...
When I find some time, I'll re-search through the net and check if there's one. Otherwise i think, that we can create one ... (maybe on QT platform like for JackControl, qtractor, ...)
