Yeah, a friend of mine from high school works for the PE as an alternative energy analyst. He was telling me about this initiative and how much energy it would hopefully save. It'll be interesting to see if this works in practice. Sometimes the cure is worse than the poison, particularly with older software like this. I'm can only imagine how many IT consultants will be popping up to fix this problem (and perhaps create a few more)
Slightly off topic, but when Loren Cress and I were in academy together, one of the teachers showed us a really cool way to figure out the day of the week a given date fell on using a "doomsday algorithm". For the life of me, I can't remember it, but I remember it being really cool.
