Maybe we ought to put up some 'street cred' projects for people who genuinely want to earn their stripes, but may not know where to start. People don't always know what is needed, and what would be a good challenge, and would earn some respect. I'm perfectly serious here.
Ron, why don't you create a wish list on the Wiki? When someone picks off a project they can annotate the entry with its current status. I think this would be very useful.
