Because of it's familiarity in the OS world... Most everyone has
experienced 98 before XP and well it was an OS that was fairly
simple to use... We got to know it's functions, how to meneuver
threw it and found it to be the OS that everyone grew to like... Now
people that started on 98 are satisfied the way 98 runs and are
opposed to moving onto XP or simply have a computer that is only
capable of running 98 and it can't be upgraded or it wouldn't be
cost effective to upgrade it. As far as 98 being the "Worst" OS out
there I tend to disagree with that statement... Win ME which was
supposed to be a "Glorified" update to 98 (glorified beyond 98SE) ..
Well lo and behold it ended up being full of loop holes and
backdoors for attackers to slip in... If you compare the 98 updates
to the ME updates on the MS website you will notice there is a
considerable amount or more updates to ME then 98.. Now I know the
MS website stopped making updates for 98 a couple of years ago and
if I'm not mistaken they are still updating ME so yes I've taken
that into consideration as I write this... For it's time 98 was the
best "User Friendly OS with a GUI" Linux and all other OS's were
still in their planning stages didn't have GUI's for the computer
challenged world and really didn't make a decent debut for if I'm
not mistaken atleast a year after 98 was already out.. We as the
general public learned 98 and when the "Others" came out very few of
us chose to learn them because we were comfortable with what we had
already learned which was/is Win 98. Make sense? Paula
