It is possible to disable DMA, but you do it from the Device Manager
in Windows, not the application.

I was understanding this program to be the type that hacks the
firmware to accept out-of-region discs.
If it doesn't modify the firmware it may not be necessary to flash at
this point.

Disable DMA first.  If this doesn't work try the firmware flash.
(Sometimes a firmware flash is needed to make DMA work later)
