Hi,
I am currently using a Sony Vaio Digital Studio that I bought in '01
(800 EB MGz Intel Pentium III, 2 hard drives with 40gb, 128 mg pc-100
sd-ram, modem 1648 v.90 compatible, Windows ME).
All I basically do: surf the internet using Juno, use MS word,
wordpad and Adobe Pagemaker, use quicken and turbotax. I will never
come close to using all the memory.
It crashes a lot, mostly when I use Juno -- this is very frustrating.
Also I keep getting a window at random frequent times asking me if I
want to download some program I've never heard of. I've tried every
simple fix I could think of -- defrag, delete cookies, reinstall Juno,
ad-aware, spybot, viruses, etc. I found that using Mozilla causes
fewer crashes, but it is poor at downloads. Sometimes the crashing
happens at startup which is unrelated to the internet connection.
Also I can't get Adobe Acrobat 7.0 because it doesn't work with
Windows ME.
Of course I would love to scrap the whole thing and get a new
computer. However the budget is small to non-existent. Also the rest
of the computer isn't frustrating me, just the internet mostly. Does
anyone have any less expensive suggestions?
Thanks,
Jan
