Where did you find the dos prompt??? Now you also do not have an operating system. I believe you will now need to re-install DOS from a set of dos floppys. Then there is no reason to have trouble installing a Windows 9x OS. Me should install without dos but you might need an ME boot Alias ME setup floppy. I'm not sure but seems to me that ME is bootable from the CD. You will need CDrom drivers on the setup floppy or the Rom wont start. It's been a while. If I do not have this correct, someone help me out. I sure never heard of needing a special recovery CD for that vintage.
