This same thing happened to me.  We bought almost everything new and 
still it did the same thing.  The new operating system wouldn't go in so 
we took it to Fry's and they plugged in it and there it went - loaded up 
fine.  To make a long story short it was the wall plug, not letting 
enough current through.  It would work on any other wall circut come to 
find out.
