BEFORE YOU DO THIS MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE THE CORRECT DRIVER FOR YOUR NEW MONITOR! IF FILE IS COMPRESSED THEN EXPAND THE FILE TO A NEW EMPTY DIRECTORY! **NOTE: MAKE SURE YOU GET THE RIGHT DRIVER FOR YOUR OPERATING SYSTEM!
Try going into safe mode then right-click on My Computer and go to properties. Next click on hardware and then device manager, next double-click on Monitor category. Now click on the monitor that you had before and then press DELETE. Close out all windows and reboot. System should then search for a new monitor and then choose where you saved the driver for the new monitor and then click on OK. System should ask if you want to reboot, but if not then reboot manually and hopefully your system will boot up correctly. Let me know what happens! A couple of weeks ago I purchased a Gateway monitor at a yard sale. Hooked it up to my computer which is not a gateway, and a few days later my computer began to reboot on its own...rebooting constantly and then turning off. If I allow it to stand for more than half an hour, I can get it on again, but after a few hours or a few days (never know how long), it will go through the same cycle again. My friend's son looked at it and he thought it was the power supply so he tried another one and it still did the same thing. He also cleaned the fans. Does anyone know if the Gateway monitor might have blown something? Or what else it could be? Thanks so much!
