Can someone tell me what I can do about a laptop that overheats and then
turns itself off?

Hi Rixey:
How long since your laptop was cleaned? This is a very common
occurrence with laptops and they should be professionally cleaned
at least once a year.

When my still under warrantee Laptop first had that problem cleaning
fixed it. Then a year later, still on extended warrantee they cleaned it
again and said it was full of cat hair.

Since then I have stopped trying to teach my cats how to go online.

Also, make sure that your laptop is on a smooth flat surface and not
on a pad or cushion as that will obstruct the proper air flow from
underneath.
