I bought an Acer last year and it has been very reliable, it gets a 
bit hot and is also a bit slow to boot but otherwise no problems at 
all.  What I did like about it was that the hd is partitioned, one for 
programs and the other clear for personal data.  In the event of 
having to use the rescue disks, only the drive containing the programs 
will be restored to the original factory settings and the drive with 
the personal data will be left intact ... but you should always back 
up ... just in case!
